Say bingo to free movies

We're planning for great things in the new year and hope that you will get involved. As an Optimist Club member or community member, you can help us raise funds to present free movies in Foote Park this summer.

We're partnering the Greater Middleton Parks and Recreation Department to deliver movies on a giant screen for your enjoyment.

Do you like to do good things for our community? Do you have a special interest projects that help families and children?
Do you want to provide service to others and make life-long friendships in the process? Are you looking for a way to improve your self confidence and leadership skills?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, you should join the Middleton Area Optimist Club. Drop by our new meeting location, the Middleton Fire Station, beginning Monday, January 9, 6:30 p.m. or call Linda at 208.861.2310 to learn more. We hope to see you soon!

Tennis Fundraiser is successful

The fill-your-freezer fundraiser was quite a success! Thanks to Schwans, and especially the Schwans guys, we'll be doing it again on the first Saturday in August.

All money raised at the fill-your-freezer fundraiser is supporting the launch of a brand new tennis program in Middleton schools.  Please stop by and support your schools by making purchases you really need. Watch this page for more information.  Thanks!

We're serving up the fill your freezer fundraiser

Schwans is helping the Middleton Area Optimist Club with a fundraiser for the new tennis program that is coming to the Middleton Middle School. You can fill your freezer and serve up a good deal at the same time.

What's happening? Golf, tennis, elections and more!

We are getting close to the wire on the golf scramble.  Pat reported we need 14 teams just to cover the costs.  We will assess next week and consider canceling if not able to get enough teams.

Stacy and Linda made contact with Rick Gibbs of Middleton Middle School.  Tennis courts will be ready by August 2nd.  MAOC help is being requested with providing coaching or raising funds for coaching expenses. A Schwan’s Truck Load Sale fundraiser and Tennis mini-festival is planned for June 4th at the Fine Arts parking lot pending approval from school district. Another sale planned for August.

As a youth appreciation projects MAOC approved donating 8 leather-bound portfolios to the top two students of each graduating class of Vision Charter School.  These will be used to save awards and certificates.

4th of July
The club will plan on having items for sale at the 4th of July parade to raise funds.

Elections and officer appointments
The following appointments were made to replace vacant Board member positions:  Bob Arnett to replace Sherin Williams, Stacy nelson to replace Jennifer Driskill, and Sybil Arnett to replace Julie Halpin.   Club members at the May 16th meeting nominated Russell Nelson as next president. Becky O’Meara was nominated to a 2-year Board position effective 10/1/11.  If there are no oppositions or further nominees the slate will be confirmed by acclamation at the next meeting.  Please respond with any objections.

Thank you.
Estela Cabrera,
Your Secretary/Treasurer
